Get to Know Us
Hi there,

I'm Kay. I am the children's book buyer at Times bookstores.

I love a great children classic! In the coming months, I will reintroduce classics to all Times young readers. Many of these children's classics are adapted into Hollywood films like Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas, The Wrinkle In Time and Beatrix Potter's The Tale Of Peter Rabbit. It's time to revisit these classics before they hit the big screen.

My all-time favourite children's books include Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince, and my new favourite is Drew Daywalt's The Day the Crayons Quit, beautifully illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. This hilarious and colourful book is suitable for children aged 3 to 7.

Hi Everyone,

I’m Christine, Retail Associate looking after the Children’s section at Times Waterway Point. There’s a cosy reading corner here, where parents and children read together.

Working in the Children’s section keeps me energised and young (at heart ). I love the giggle from the children when they enjoy a funny book or the excited expression on their faces as they turn the pages of the book.  My favourite Children’s books are Russell Lee’s Ghost Story, The Cat in the Hat and The Magic Brush.

I have been with Times for 5 years. If you are interested to join our team, write to us at jobapplications@tpl.com.sg

Make Learning Fun
Make Chinese a fun and natural part of everyday life

Huang Ying
Principal, Chengzhu Mandarin Centre

The best way for children to learn Mandarin is through songs, drama, stories, games and play. All of these fun activities motivate children’s interest in learning Mandarin and enable children to absorb language easily, otherwise it becomes an academic exercise and that is the fast lane to dousing enthusiasm.

What young children learn through Music

Anna Tan
Managing Director, Ossia Music School

Music is an integral part of life in all cultures across the globe. We hear it and experience it in many different ways all the time. But what are the benefits to young children of learning music and how can we make sure the learning process is fun?

Albert Einstein once said that “Play is the highest form of research”.

Iris Lim
Principal, Chiltern House Preschool

Empowering children with their own learning through play is an essential element in ensuring success later in life. Learning should be fun so that children will be able to make sense of the world around them. Let me share some tips with you.

Read and Review
Hey kids, how about sharing a book review?

Every week in March, we’ll select three of the best book reviews and reward their contributors with Times book vouchers. Just get your Mum or Dad to submit your review to Times Facebook page www.facebook.com/Timesbookstoressg along with a photo of you either reading or reviewing a book.

Check the Times facebook post on 23 February.
